La Première Classe is regularly inspected by CSCI (Commission for Social Care Inspection) and is a member of both The United Kingdom Home Care Association and The Royal Society for the Promotion of Health.
Jill Smith is a qualified Assessor for NVQ II and herself possesses NVQ IV. Jill is also qualified to train in Food Hygiene Awareness, Protection from Abuse, Moving & Handling and Medication.

Train to Care

5 day course divided into two parts:


Two days intensive theory training in core elements of NVQ II which includes personal care, pressure sores, challenging behaviour, Health and Safety Regulations, Moving & Handling.

Three days at a residential home where the trainee learns the general duties of caring, i.e. wash, bath and dress a client, assist with eating and general mobility.

At the end of this course, the trainee is assessed by the Home as to their proficiency in Care work. If they are deemed competent in all tasks, they are awarded a Certificate of Competency. This Certificate of Competency will enable them to either work for La Première Classe or seek employment elsewhere in various types of Care work.



Food Hygiene Awareness

The focus of the course is designed to anyone handling food. The course studies the basic causes of food poisoning, the bacteria’s involved and how it may be avoided, i.e. all hygiene checks, safe handling and practice of food handling.
This course leads to a certificate being awarded by The Royal Society for Promotion of Health having successfully completed a short test.

Please note: This course is not suitable for anyone preparing food as Food Hygiene Awareness does not cover the topic of food preparation.



Prevention from Abuse

This course studies the various forms of abuse to elderly people and how it should be avoided. Videos are watched which includes various case scenarios.



Medication

The various types of medication, their administrations and their consequences are studied in this course. The trainees learn how to recognize the different medications and which ones they are permitted to administer to their client.
